Wet Dog...
...and muddy earthworms on the sidewalk after a rain.
That's what Cornelian cherry smells like once it's bloomed.
What a pity. Such a lovely yellow, and so easy to force inside to get a bit of spring before spring comes.
But wet dog. And earthworms.

HUZZAH!!! The G.F.D. Is Now Complete
The Great Facebook Dump is finished! It was fun to relive the past year and a hair as I transferred all my recent Facebook stuff here, but I must say--one can only endure that kind of tedium for so long. I'm glad it's done.
From here on out, all the posts will be fresh and never-before-seen.
(What a relief.)

G.F.D. - The Three Musketeers

(Well, four including Baby Blackberry tucked away until he's done growing.)
I realized I can probably count on one hand the number of pictures in my possession that have our whole little family in them. I guess that's what I get for being behind the camera more often than not.
Thanks for this gem, Titi!

G.F.D. - Hurry Along, Spring!

More forced blooms in progress. (Thanks to my mother-in-law for telling me what to hunt and where to find them on our property.) I'm parched for spring to come in earnest.
Cornelian Cherry.

G.F.D. - Twelve Months!!!

Tadhg boy is a year old today! It's crazy to think of how much a year can hold, and God willing, we're just getting started. These are the days of taking first steps, playing with cars, helping Mama sweep, putting wet cloths on our head to crawl through the house, appreciating the wind outside, learning how to scribble, and cultivating a healthy book obsession. They're the days of cutting a ninth tooth, getting your first haircut from Mama (traumatic for her but not for you), waking up from naps groggy and happy to play with stuffed animals, imagining socks (and magnets, and cheerios, and...) are phones to talk on, studying rocks and acorns intently, and taking baths in the kitchen sink. These are Good Days, all.
We are so grateful to have had Tadhg's life adding joy and depth and richness to ours these many months.

G.F.D. - Eleven Months

Little Mister is 11 months old today! He continues to be busy all the time (but still isn't walking). He climbs our stairs with ease, but somehow letting go of our hands while he's walking rates about 100x higher on his danger radar. (Nope. Risk calculation is definitely not rational.)
He has 7 teeth and is working on 3 more; no rest for the gum-weary... He bounces to music, "vrooms" around with anything that has wheels, interacts with our cat and chickens, and tries to roleplay with his little rubber animals (like Daddy, like Boy). And he cracks us up with his intense soliloquies.
It's amazing how fast little people grow.
And this is what posed photos look like at 11 months... Yep. He's gone. Whoosh.

Just chilling--waking up, eating some cheerios, dancing to some tunes.
One of Tadhg and Rundy's favorite bonding activities. Storytelling with the rubber farm animals...
Baby. Kitty. A whole lot of nice.

G.F.D. - A Gift of Light

One of my homemade Christmas gifts this year was mason jar oil candles. I must say, they look best burning.

G.F.D. - Ten Months

Happy 10 months, little munchkin! This month has been full of baby giggles and mischief-making. Tadhg discovered a love for the toilet, brushing his teeth, and opening and closing doors all over the house. His world has also expanded from only being able to turn light switches off to being able to turn them back on again... Life doesn't get much better than that, folks. He likes being affectionate between his fast-moving adventures and is increasingly having a lot of profound things to share in his own little language. Life with this little person just keeps getting fuller.
He is grinning, not grimacing. But check out those ferocious teeth! (The better to eat you with.)

How to Enjoy Food: A Study
Oh, the joys of having your own toothbrush...
I see this a lot now.
And this.
And especially this. (He's headed for the toilet.)
He just loves his daddy.
Tadhg got his own phone for Christmas after being obsessed with our landline for weeks. (He lights up every time we get a phone call.) As you can see, using a phone is serious business.
