Sweet Tessa is 6 months old tomorrow--I'm posting a day early because tomorrow is her biggest brother's 5th (FIFTH!!?!?!) birthday celebration.
Tessa has fit into our family like she's always been here; in truth, it feels like she should be older than six months because it's so hard to remember her not being with us. The boys love taking turns having her with them for a bit in bed before naps while I'm putting Marnie down. She is Marnie's "tyewwwt baby." Daddy enjoys tossing her in the air and startling her because she always reacts with such delight. And me? She's my sweet little chum, always ready for whatever's next with a grin. Teething has been pretty intense this month (despite still being toothless), which means more restless sleep for both of us. As long as she can sleep beside me, though, all's well, sore gums and all; she's an easy girl to console. During the day, the chewy teethers you keep in the fridge are her jam and keep her jolly. Tessa still stretches about as long as a baby can be; her chunky thighs are almost completely disguised by her lankiness, making her the most string-beany baby we've had. She's still inching backwards and pivoting, but hasn't yet figured out how to move forward. Once she does, though, she's going to be off to the races. When she's not sleeping her eyes are alive with curiosity and she's eager to explore the world.
Tessa is observant and affectionate and bright-eyed and full of good humor, gentle and glad to be alive. What a baby!
Fun Fact: The sweater Tessa is wearing for her 6 monthiversary is this very same sweater that Big Sister Marnie was wearing for her 11 monthiversary. And it was bigger on Marnie, dear little hobbit!
